Developing a Global Mindset
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL STUDY VISITS
Developing a global mindset about schooling can take many forms. The International School Study Visits Program offers school leaders an opportunity to spend up to a week visiting a high achieving school in another country. The purpose is to facilitate learning about other schooling practices that can both reinforce and inspire new ways of viewing school development and how, in this global age of global responsibility, we are preparing students for success as participating global citizens in a new schooling challenge and opportunity.
High Achieving Schools in ISC Countries
High Performing Schools are being selected in ISC Countries now to host small groups of school leaders from one country to spend three to five days studying the school’s learning and leading culture. The ISC countries so far include the USA, Spain, Canada, Finland, Sweden, and China.
Study Guides for an International School Study Visit
Each ISC host school for study visits will be selected for its excellence and prominence in ways that influence student success. Visiting school leaders will be given a School Visit Study Guide for observing leading and learning in a school. The host school’s unique features will become an inspiration. An ISC “Case Study” model will be employed to observe a host school or schools. The visitor will collect three or four sets of observable information that will blend together to provide a valid inquiry for a school study visit using observations, interviews, document analysis, and focus groups.
Schools around the world can partner with ISC to develop sustainable global schools.
